Dr. Gray is a strong proponent of the biopsychosocial model of psychiatry. This approach integrates medical and organic causes of psychiatric difficulties with psychological challenges and stressors in the social environment. Dr. Gray approaches each new patient by taking a careful history and gathering information from collateral sources when consent is given (such as other providers or therapists, PCPs and other family members). A complete medical workup is obtained when indicated and laboratory testing is done for a variety of reasons. In cases where therapy is already provided by another clinician, she will be happy to provide medication management and collaborate with the referring clinician.

When the evaluation is complete, Dr. Gray shares her clinical and diagnostic impressions. She also shares her treatment recommendations and is willing to discuss them. This discussion provides the opportunity for both the patient and Dr. Gray to come to a mutual understanding regarding ongoing treatment that is in the patient’s best interest.
